This network aims to support deacons and others involved in diaconal work in Northern
Europe, particularly in countries which are primarily or partly ‘anglophone’: England
and Scotland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium (Flanders), Scandinavia, the Baltic
states and the Ukraine. In addition we also expect to draw interest from deacons
in the US and Canada although diaconal networks in America are already well-
In all our countries the Permanent Diaconate is a growing and exciting form of ministry in the life of the Church. Deacons need resources to help them in their ministry and in the process of theological reflection. Many of our fellow deacons work in isolated situations and it is important that we establish the means by which we can share resources and provide a necessary channel of communication. To this end we publish twice a year the New Diaconal Review
